Art Kaohsiung 2017
CHENG Hung, 2018
“I could be inside. I could be outside. Sometimes, I cannot tell. But I know the seemingly contrasting feelings exchange position. Attack me again. There is no eternity. In between sober and everyday life, every story has its context. You think they will shatter and vanish. But they will certainly resurrect. The cycle of scenery cannot forget it is in itself. I exist in the scenery. I also exist in myself. We can always look into the distant. But we always forget to look back at ourselves at a distant. Stuck in the middle.”
CHENG Hung was born in Hong Kong in 1993. She graduated with the Degree of Bachelor of Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Major in Fine Arts). Her works were exhibited in Art Kaohsiung 2017. She was awarded Fresh Trend Art Award and Grotto Fine Art’s Creative Award in 2017. She completed the artist residency program in Treasure Hill Artist Village in 2018.
Cheng Hung hopes to find a shortcut to escape the city. She believes in things even if she had never seen before. No matter how ridiculous it sounds, she is willing to believe in the tiniest possibility. She always makes things up. For example: she once said she will disappear from this place after she pass the road sign on her daily route back home someday. After telling her friends several times, she has developed a strong faith in that idea that she will eventually escape from this reality.

The nights with slow rhythm became undefined,鄭虹CHENG Hung，《讓一切靜止，成為永恆的地方》Maybe someday it will be true，2018
The thoughts and objects that linger in my mind,
Being assorted and starts to unwind.
I caught a glimpse of the liquidity of everything,
Just like we are all transforming.
All the thoughts that were far away, starts reliving again.
Sometimes, it’s light like blowing fine powders into the air,
Sometimes, it’s dense and submerges into my skin.
Slowly, they sink under water,
And when the wind comes,
They merge with the waves and wiggle in my mind.
I became part of the water,
And follow these thoughts in the gloomy air at night.
The place became so hard to find the button of pause.
Over the pavement, the water is running,
Besides me, a dark hollow starts to form,
Even the warm streetlights could not penetrate the fogginess.
The sunken air, almost, drown me in it.
Living in half times of illusion,
I chase and collect the fragments of time.
The shining lights, the objects beyond the window,
With the silence, time lengthens,
And the space in the stillness expands into eternity.
When shelter was built,
It collapsed with the rational reality,
Perhaps feeling secure only exists in the illusion.
